We were delighted to welcome back former student, Rosie Deane, Climate Educator from What On Earth.uk for an academic lunch where she discussed her work enlightening and advising schools, universities and corporates about the critical situation that we are creating on Earth and how to reach net zero.

Students were fascinated to hear about her varied international career since leaving St Swithun's. After reading chemical engineering at the University of Exeter, Rosie began her career at BIS Banking Systems in IT, travelling the world for work and eventually settling in Singapore to have a family during which time she retrained as a yoga and meditation teacher.  A Masters in Sustainable Development then led to her current role facilitating Climate Fresk Workshops in the field of climate education.

The students were particularly keen to learn more about the challenges of helping companies to limit the impact of climate change. Rosie highlighted the urgency of the problem through the use of data visualisation, in particular Professor Ed Hawkins's artistic representation of global temperature change in 'Climate Stripes'.
