Fitch Ratings is a global credit rating agency which provides independent insights and opinions on credit and risk issues, on everything from countries like the USA and China to large global car manufacturers and even prawn farms in Thailand. Fitch has analysts in over 40 countries worldwide and produces forecasts and opinions on the likely future financial performance of businesses, countries and public institutions. The views of Fitch’s analysts are used by investors (pension funds, asset managers, banks and insurance companies) to help them decide which entities to lend money to, and to help them differentiate between potential leaders and laggards in an industry sector.
Fitch's sustainable finance group is based in London, New York, and Hong Kong. The group is responsible for overseeing and helping to develop all environmental, social and governance analysis undertaken by Fitch’s 4,200+ staff. In 2019 Fitch Ratings created the first integrated cross-asset scoring system to help investors understand how environmental, social and governance risk factors impact businesses and their future prospects.
Prior to his current role Andrew held several senior management positions in Fitch: head of the energy, utilities, project finance and regulated transportation analytical groups; head of Asia Pacific Corporate Ratings based in Singapore, Head of EMEA Corporate Ratings; and Head of Executive Projects.
Before joining Fitch in 2004 Andrew led ABN Amro’s project finance, power and utilities group, worked in private equity for Edison Capital, in the energy sector for PowerGen’s group treasury, and in the banking sector as a mezzanine, leveraged buy-out and cross-border M&A lender and advisor.
From 2006-2010 Andrew was an independent expert for the United Nations ECE advising on risk issues and sustainable energy development. He is currently an advisory board member of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment credit ratings initiative, and a trustee of the Great Ormand Street Hospital based charity CLEFT.
Andrew graduated with a BSc Hons in Psychology from Bristol University, and has a postgraduate diploma from INSEAD business school (CGEM).
