Come along to learn from the experiences of our professionals and ask them questions you may have about studying and working in Healthcare. We will be welcoming:
Dr Annabelle Mondon-Ballantyne BSc (Hons), MBBS, MRCP (ED, 2009)
Annabelle graduated from Imperial College London with distinctions in Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2015. During her time there she also completed intercalated BSc in Medical Sciences and Gastroenterology.
She completed foundation training in the South Thames deanery in London and later moved to the South West deanery where she completed her ‘core medical training’ and gained her Membership to the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP).
Following this, she took a respite from full-time clinical work, and worked as a Clinical Teaching Fellow for Bristol University, supporting, developing and delivering the oncology and palliative care teaching at Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
In January 2020, Annabelle returned to London to complete a full-time research-based MSc in Palliative Care at Kings College London and is currently awaiting her final result.
Between her academic work and during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic she also worked as a ‘locum doctor’ in the role of a medial registrar in Acute Medicine and Geriatrics.
Outside of work, she has been chair of the Association of Palliative Medicine Juniors committee and led on delivering a number of successful national conferences as well as promoting the importance of palliative care to junior doctors. At medical school she was an active member of the lacrosse club (despite being pretty rubbish at school!) and chaired committees for two charitable organisations – ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’ and ‘Right to Play’.
She is passionate about maintaining a work life balance. She enjoys staying active, cooking and has rediscovered a love for crochet during lockdown! She continues to have a lively social life and remains in contact with friends from both St Swithun’s and university.
She is married, lives with her husband (also a doctor in North London) and is looking forward to welcoming her first child in March. Following her maternity leave she will be returning to work in the NHS as a ‘less-than-full-time’ GP trainee in East London.
