Director of Business Development
Katie Cramond (Biography):
Katie Cramond is the Director of Business Development, International at US headquartered law firm McDermott, Will & Emery. The focus of Katie's role is to build growth and loyalty with her firm's clients and develop relationships across the McDermott platform, as well as encouraging cross-border collaboration. McDermott Will & Emery is an international law firm with a diversified business practice. The firm is one of the largest grossing law firms in the US and globally, and its lawyers represent a wide range of commercial, industrial and financial enterprises, both publicly and privately held.
Katie had an opportunity-filled and privileged background. Her mother has been and continues to be a true inspiration to her throughout her life and career. When it came to choosing a career path, Katie wanted an environment where she could thrive and take advantage of her natural creativity and interpersonal skills. The world of professional services marketing and business development seemed like a natural fit and Katie began her career in the UK Marketing team at EY, the accountancy firm in London.
She then joined the magic circle law firm Freshfields in London in 2012. It was here that she met her mentor, a senior corporate partner who gave her the opportunity to move to Singapore in 2014. Much like her mother’s time in Dubai, living and working in Asia was pivotal to Katie’s personal and professional development.
Katie has excellent people skills; demonstrated by her high EQ and ability to work with the varying (and demanding) personalities within law firms. As a leader she can always rely on her impressive network and personality to gather the right team. Katie is nurturing and extremely committed to her team’s personal growth. She creates an inclusive culture, investing in her staff and fostering client relationships but also long-term planning for the success of the individuals as well as the collective. The success of those around her is as important to Katie as her own success. Katie thrives on engaging with people and feels passionate about this.
Having worked in Singapore, Hong Kong, Jakarta, and Tokyo as well as New York and London, Katie’s international outlook and perspective really set her apart in her field. She appreciates the nuances of working with different cultures and enjoys the opportunity to bond with others over experiences in Asia and the US.
