St Swithun's Head of History of Art, Katie Lintott, invites the alumni community to a series of five Monday evening classes.
The lectures do not require any pre-knowledge, they are free to attend and refreshments are provided. The evening classes are held in the Old Junior School Hall and start at 16.30 hrs.
In this series Katie will be focussing on particular artistic movements and genres integral to the history of art and the shaping of the modern world, together with a detailed look at the historical and social contexts of those movements, whilst exploring particular, iconic artworks from the main artists involved.

Week 2 - 5th February - The Enlightenment in Art
Week 3 - 26th February - The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the Medieval Revival in Victorian England
Week 4 - 5th March - Propaganda in Art and Sculpture from the Medici Dynasty to Nazi Germany Week 5 - 12th March - Pop Art: Andy Warhol, Jasper Johns and Roy Lichtenstein (Picture detailed : Roy Lichtenstein, Whaam!, 1963)
